A lofty pine motivates this video ouroboros that languidly merges unto itself in a loop, morphing branches into roots, sky into ground, and ups into downs in an ever-slow cycle of growth, decline, and renewal. Inspired by Bruce Baillie’s “All My Life.”
Background
A structural film originating in a small film camp in Baguio, Philippines, where the batch had to create a video capsule of their personal experiences at the time. The work has since been re-edited into a longer (present) version. There is also another version made for installation. When looped, the latter ends exactly as it begins, creating a continual cycle of downward tilts and resolutions.
