Statement
A Cannes-selected short film I illegitimately downloaded off the internet plays out entirely as a series of soundless glitches bearing zero resemblance to the original. The accidental glitches, completely unintended by the artist, becomes the grist for this kaleidoscopic simulacrum, or a copy of a copy, inviting viewers to reassess prevailing notions of prestige, derivativity, and artistic agency in an age of rapid digital obsolescence. How new media's mimesis of decay occurs simultaneously as a creative force reminds us that decay itself is not merely an end, but a generative threshold—where corruption becomes composition, and malfunction opens up new modes of perception.
